Let's Answer Those Questions!

  • How should I care for my new tattoo? What is the aftercare process like?
Tattoo aftercare is important in preventing infection, scarring and ink rejection. Recommended products are sold at the studio. Aftercare Instructions (Non-Adhesive Bandage) If using a standard, non-adhesive bandage, remove bandage within 2-3 hours post-procedure. Once bandage is removed, wash the tattoo 2-3 times per day with an antibacterial, fragrance-free soap. We recommend H2Ocean or Dr. Bronners. If needed, apply a very thin layer of ointment 1-2 times daily for the first 1-3 days post-procedure. We recommend H2Ocean’s Aquatat. Once your tattoo starts feeling dry, begins flaking or peeling, STOP using the ointment and begin using a water-based, fragrance-free lotion. We recommend H2Ocean or Cetaphil. Keep your tattoo out of salt water, rivers, lakes, bathes, hot tubs or other pools, sun and chlorine for 2 weeks post-procedure. (Do not soak.) DO NOT scratch, pick or peel your tattoo. If you have any questions stop by or text/email/call Paintbrush Tattoo. Saniderm Instructions (Saniderm is the “Second Skin” clear bandage adhesive) Leave Saniderm on for 4 days. It is normal to see build up under bandage. On the fifth day peel bandage off very slowly under warm running water, making sure to do so with clean hands. Gently wash your tattoo using unscented antibacterial soap, then pat your tattoo dry with a paper towel. We recommend H2Ocean or Dr. Bronnors. Once your tattoo dries and begins to peel, moisturize your tattoo 2-3 times a day with unscented lotion. We recommend H2Ocean or Cetaphil. Keep your tattoo out of salt water, rivers, lakes, bathes, hot tubs or other pools, sun and chlorine for 2 weeks post procedure. (No soaking.) DO NOT scratch, pick or peel your tattoo. If you have any questions stop by or text/email/call Paintbrush Tattoo.
  • Does the artist repeat designs?
Unless the client wants matching tattoos, custom drawings will not be repeated after being tattooed. This means if you book a custom piece, the drawing will not be used elsewhere. Because of the volume of Teton tattoo requests we receive, all Teton tattoos are considered repeatable flash, unless you request a very specific variation. There are only so many ways to reinvent the wheel!
  • I want a tattoo, but I don't know what to get.

  • Does Paintbrush Tattoo do removal, cosmetic tattooing, or piercings?
Although Paintbrush Tattoo would love to provide more services in the future, we do not currently offer cosmetic tattooing or piercings. Tattoo removal is not available at Paintbrush Tattoo.
  • Will the artist tattoo someone else's design?
Paintbrush Tattoo will not steal work from other artists. Our artists will look at your reference photos to see what style you are looking for, but they will not plagiarize it. Paintbrush Tattoo draws their own original tattoos and complies with all copyright laws. The only exception is with written consent from the artist being copied. Generic tattoos, such as stars, hearts, or symbols, that have been done by thousands of artists are exempt from copyright laws.
